Morris Bank Appoints New Chairman

Thad Childs elected Chairman of Morris Bank Board of Directors; Roger Miller elected Chairman of Morris State Bancshares. Morris Bank is pleased to announce the election of Thad Childs as Chairman of the Morris Bank Board of Directors as of March 21, 2018.  Roger Miller has also been elected Chairman of Morris State Bancshares, the bank’s holding company, as of the same date.  Childs and Miller succeed former Chairman Lisa Livingston who will remain active on both boards.

“We are very excited about these two appointments,” said Lisa Livingston, outgoing Chairman, Morris Bank Board of Directors. “Their unique skillsets and extensive community banking knowledge will be tremendous assets to help us continue to provide the best banking experience possible for our customers throughout middle Georgia.”

According to Spence Mullis, President/CEO of Morris Bank, “The leadership of outgoing Chairman, Lisa Livingston, has been paramount in providing a strong foundation for Morris Bank to continue to grow and serve in Middle Georgia in the coming years. With her at the helm, the bank has grown fivefold to over $700 million in total assets. We are grateful for her dedicated service to our bank, our communities, and our team members. Thad and Roger will continue to provide strong direction and leadership for all of our team members and shareholders as well.”

Thad Childs has a passion for community banking in middle Georgia, serving the middle Georgia market for 45 years. Having joined Morris Bank in 2012 as the Jones County Market President, under his leadership, the Jones County Morris Bank office continues to be one of the fastest growing branches in the entire State of Georgia.

“I’ve been in banking for a long time, and this is a tremendous honor. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve this organization in a higher capacity,” said Childs.

Assuming the position of Chairman of Morris State Bancshares, Roger Miller will serve as the voice and lead all administrative functions of the shareholders. A Laurens County native, he has been a part of middle Georgia community banking for over 35 years. Having joined Morris Bank in 2006, he currently serves as Executive Vice President of Community Lending and is a member of the Morris Bank Board of Directors. Along with his extensive banking career, Roger also has a passion for serving his community. He has held numerous board positions and served in several local civic organizations.

“It is certainly an honor to serve in this capacity and to work with a great team of folks serving the various communities within which we live and work.  With that said, we remember that our customers are why we’re here and for those relationships we’re grateful,” said Miller.
