Alan Childs Promoted To Jones County Market President. The Childs family has a passion for community banking in middle Georgia, and Thad Childs has contributed to 45 years of that legacy. Whether you know him as a runner or a banker, if you know Thad, you know he puts his heart into whatever he does. When he joined Morris Bank as the Jones County Market President, he created a team that included many familiar faces from the Bank of Gray and they quickly hit the ground running. Under his leadership, in just over 5 years, the Jones County Morris Bank office continues to be the fastest growing branch in the State of Georgia. As Thad makes a move toward retirement, he will not only continue to serve on our Board of Directors, he will transition to a Business Development Officer within our organization.

“You know, it’s just time. I’ve had a good run, and I’m not planning on stopping completely; I just want to enjoy the view a little more. Morris Bank and middle Georgia have been very good to me and my family. Alan has been and will continue to be a tremendous asset to not only the Bank but to the entire region. He’s very deserving, and I’m proud to see him become Market President for Jones County,” said Thad Childs.

Alan Childs joined Morris Bank in 2013 as a Commercial Lender. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mercer University and is a graduate of Georgia Bankers School from The University of Georgia. With over 30 years of banking experience, Alan is no stranger to the middle Georgia banking landscape and is very active in the community. He currently serves on the Jones County Development Authority, is Secretary/Treasurer of the Downtown Development Authority, and is a member of the Kiwanis Club. Alan, his wife Loray, and their daughter Megan are life-long Jones County residents. The years of experience shared between Thad and Alan in middle Georgia community banking, have been instrumental in providing top-notch service for our customers.

"I am grateful and deeply honored to have had the opportunity to be a part of establishing Morris Bank in Houston County. The Code Blue principles upon which the bank is founded, along with the team we have, has made my job easy. I know Kelly will exceed all expectations in the future and I’m grateful I will get to bear witness as a member of his team,” said Slappey.
